Heating, Boilers & Plumbing

Boiler replacement, full heating systems, underfloor heating and plumbing — installed and commissioned by Gas Safe registered engineers, and designed alongside the building work rather than fitted around it.

Capability

Heat and water, end to end

  • Boiler replacement and relocation — combi, system and heat-only
  • Full central heating installation and pipework replacement
  • Underfloor heating, wet systems, manifolds and zoned controls
  • Unvented cylinders, pressurisation and pump-assisted supply
  • Radiator sizing, replacement and system balancing
  • Smart heating controls, zoning and weather compensation
  • Mains water upgrades, incoming supply and stopcock replacement
  • Soil stacks, waste runs and drainage alterations
  • Power flushing, system cleaning and inhibitor dosing
  • Landlord gas safety inspections and certification
How we work

Why heating belongs inside the build team

On most projects the heating engineer arrives after the structure is set, the floor build-up is decided and the wall positions are fixed. By then, a good number of decisions that determine how well the system performs have already been made by someone else.

Running heat as one of our three in-house disciplines means the manifold position, the pipe routes through joists, the floor build-up over underfloor circuits and the flue route are resolved on the same drawing as the structure. Nothing gets notched through a joist the engineer needed intact.

It also means commissioning happens when the programme says it should. A heating system that goes live three weeks late holds up plastering, drying and every finish behind it.

Design

The system has to match the house it heats

A boiler sized by rule of thumb rather than by heat loss calculation is the most common reason a new system underperforms. Oversizing causes short-cycling, inefficiency and premature wear; undersizing shows up on the coldest week of the year, which is the worst possible time to find out.

The same applies to hot water. A house with three bathrooms running simultaneously needs storage and flow rate that a combi cannot deliver, regardless of the badge on it. Getting this right at design stage costs nothing; getting it wrong costs the whole installation.

Where a property is being refurbished anyway, it's also the moment to consider whether underfloor heating suits the build-up you're creating, and whether the system should be designed to run at lower flow temperatures so it can accept a heat pump later without being replaced again.

Good to Know

Heating & Plumbing — common questions

Yes. All gas work is carried out by Gas Safe registered engineers, and you receive the installation and commissioning certificates on completion, with the installation notified to Building Control.

A straight swap in the same position is usually one to two days. Relocating the boiler, changing system type, or replacing pipework alongside it typically takes three to five days. A full heating installation across a house is generally one to two weeks.

Underfloor suits new build-ups, ground floors and solid screeds, runs at lower flow temperatures and frees up wall space. Radiators respond faster and are far less disruptive to retrofit on an existing suspended floor. Most of the houses we work on end up with underfloor downstairs and radiators above, which is usually the sensible answer rather than a compromise.

We install and design wet systems to run at lower flow temperatures, which is what determines whether a heat pump will work in a property. Even where you're fitting a gas boiler now, designing the emitters for a lower flow temperature means the system doesn't need replacing when you change the heat source.
