Enfield Town and the streets around Gentleman's Row carry the borough's oldest surviving housing — Georgian and early Victorian property within conservation area designation, some of it listed, and a very different proposition from the suburban stock further out.
The bulk of the borough is Victorian and Edwardian terraced housing closer in, and substantial 1930s semi-detached development across the west and north. Enfield Chase and the areas bordering Hadley Wood carry larger detached property on bigger plots.
Enfield Council is the planning authority for the whole borough, including Hadley Wood. Conservation areas around Enfield Town, Forty Hill and Bush Hill Park restrict permitted development rights that apply elsewhere.
The western edge of the borough runs into green belt, which constrains development on garden and edge-of-settlement land considerably more than conservation area designation does.
Our yard sits on Kitts End Road in Barnet, a short run from most of the Enfield borough — and Hadley Wood, which is administratively part of Enfield, is a few minutes away.
That proximity is why we take on both project work and ongoing maintenance across Enfield. Planned maintenance agreements and priority response only work within a sensible radius of the yard, and this is comfortably inside it.
